Youth Speaks
Locations and schedules to be announced

Free: Youth Speaks offers fantastic no-fee spoken word activities for high schoolers and some for middle schoolers in July -- both workshops and spectator opportunities. This year, the annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival – the world’s largest ongoing spoken-word event – happens in San Francisco the evening of Saturday, July 23, at the Opera House.
Events in connection with Brave New Voices offer enrichment and educational activities during the week of July 18-23. The Summer Learning Network will update members on details and schedules as early as possible.
The week of July 18 on a day to be announced, Youth Speaks will engage 500 high-school-age teens in free writing workshops at 10 branch libraries around San Francisco. On Thursday, July 21, young people are invited to a day of writing in San Francisco with Youth Speaks leaders from around the country.
Free spectator opportunities leading up to the Brave New Voices final event:
·         Quarter finals all day on Friday, July 22, at various locations in the Mission District.
·         Semifinals all day Saturday, July 23, at four locations.
Tickets are $6 to the final event at the Opera House on Saturday, July 23.
Stay tuned for further details.
