Paid summer internships with Community Grows

Please contact Barbara Wenger about this program: blwenger@gmail.com

The BEETS Program (Band of Environmentally Educated and Employable Teens) will be accepting 6-8 interns from 14-19 years old for a four month training.  Stipends are $9/hr.

The BEETS program is an environmental education and green-jobs training program for 18-24 underserved teens, aged 14 to 19. The program supports participants to: combine lessons learned in our rigorous science-based curriculum with hands-on experiences in gardens, parks and the larger environment; acquire a core set of job readiness skills for the work force, specifically the green economy; cultivate leadership and interpersonal skills; and develop a commitment to environmental stewardship and food justice.

The BEETS specifically recruits youth referred by schools, youth-serving agencies and community leaders from local housing developments. The BEETS promotes the physical and mental well being of underserved teens by inspiring them to make well-informed healthy choices today, and to prepare them for futures in environmental careers and community leadership.

The program provides environmental education and job-skills training to urban teens in one of the most underserved communities in San Francisco. For these young people, the BEETS is the only education program available to them that combines gardening, cooking, and green-jobs training.
Thanks!
